about

Radio For Heartache is a song by Freedy Johnston, from his album "Right Between The Promises." I used to play the tune a lot on Radio Thrift Shop in the early 2000s, and thought that someday I might try to record it myself. I did just that In 2013 during the sessions for my album "No Way There From Here" at Beech House studio in Nashville. Though I always loved the lilt and quiet in Freedy's record, for this version we spun the dial and found a different sound.

All proceeds from the sale of this recording will be donated to Feeding America.

lyrics

She's a radio for heartache
Wandering along the river
Anyone who's on her wavelength
She will ask you what's the matter

He was so alone
He wouldn't have recognized his face
She sat down and gazed around
"Isn't this a lovely place?"

It looked cold out on the water
He kind of turned and nodded to her
That sound that "you let me down" makes
She's a radio for heartache

He'd been so wrong already
He couldn't even guess
She asked him if he had seen
Her favorite pair of swans pass yet

She's a radio for heartache
Wandering along the river
Anyone who's on her wavelength
She will ask you what's the matter
