This is a cover of Bonnie Tyler's 1978 hit song. A few years ago my friend Michael Shelley of WFMU asked me to contribute a song to a fundraising cd for his radio show. To participate in "More Super Hits of the 70s" you had to pick a top 10 from the bellbottoms to disco decade. I didn't have to think on it too long - "It's A Heartache" was released in March of 1978 when I was 10 and my school friends and I seemed to spend a lot of time at the roller rink. I remember a chain of us girls in jeans and the tiniest bit of lip gloss sliding unsteadily around the rink belting "It's a fools game, nothing but a fool's game, standing in the cold rain, feeling like a clo o o own." Perfectly relatable then and now. I recorded this song with Mark Spencer at Tape Kitchen in 2014. All proceeds from the sale here at bandcamp will go to the Color Me Country Artist Grant Fund, which gives seed grants to BIPOC country artists.
